After watching the Green Lantern movie, featuring Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively. I just had to do a fanart of Carol Ferris. For that, I used Blake's features as a reference. I'm really happy on how the colors turn out. I was thinking of doing like a New Guardians composition. Featuring the leaders of all various emotional powers. I don't know... I'll think about it!!

Carol Ferris is a character who I have had very limited knowledge of but I've always found the concept of Star Sapphire to be fascinating. While Lively's portrayal of the character lacked the fierceness and fire Carol is known for, I can appreciate the idea of using her as a passing reference for a drawing of Carol especially since it adds a femininity that is undoubtedly essential to the Star Sapphire identity. I do like the pose you've chosen and there's an edge of fashion editorial to it as well. It's the hands on the hips for sure. As I previously commented in that Spider-Woman piece of yours, you have a knack for facial expressions in your art. Here I find that same expressiveness in the intense look that Carol is giving. It's almost a very uncertain expression. I think it's the eyebrows. Those eyes, however, are absolutely beautiful. You did a great job with those. I love the blue you chose.

I feel like the colours you lay down on your art in this piece serve to really flesh things out. I love the texture you've given the hair as it only helps to give it a further sense of realism which I can appreciate. I adore the soft pinks on her collar but especially love the colours you've employed on the bodysuit. You've utilized the colour in such a way that it tones her body and adds strength. I love the heft to her. She seems like a classical Venus rather than a modern waif.

I also must add that the details you've added to this piece are impeccable. You did an amazing job on her ring. I think it looks on-model and is perfection. It's hard to get in those small details. I also have to commend you on how you've rendered the various gems on her as it's given her that 3D texture which works well to create realism. I'm also loving that we can see her nails through her costume. It's such a small detail but it really brings out such life in this piece that it's something I can really appreciate. Lastly, you gave her this beautiful background which works so wonderfully with her character. It's perfect. I'm loving those stones and the pink lantern. It's so cute!

Overall, you've done another job well done.

Thanks!!! I tried my best to make sure the costume is as accurate as possible. At the same, I want to instill my own style of drawing. To be honest, this piece was difficult at first. I used Corel Painter to color this piece. Since I never actually had any proper training, well in terms of digital painting. I had to try and achieve a specific level of standard that was possible. I mainly relied on references from other artist and my own instincts. So far, I have only painted women with shiny, smooth, latex related textures. After I post my latest Spider-woman piece, I'm gonna move onto different subjects. Animals, backgrounds or machines... I don't know..
